16th City of Women - international festival of contemporary arts

The City of Women (Mesto žensk) festival is dedicated to presenting contemporary women's art practice, with a special emphasis on the socially conscious part of it. Each year, it features a programme of events relevant to a particular theme in the fields of art, culture or society.

The theme of this year's festival will be "Between Past and Future", borrowed from the title of a book of the same name by the famous philosopher Hannah Arendt, who, back in the 1960's, argued the problematic nature of the condition of human existence since it had been robbed of traditional standards employed to bridge the gap between past and future.

Participating artists and theorists, living in a variety of different environments and having differing views, experiences and approaches, will share their reflections on and responses to questions arising from the relationship between past and future.
