Pablo Picasso: Tauromaquia. Myth. Eros. - selected prints
Throughout his life, Pablo Picasso, one of the most famous artists of all time, was dedicated not only to painting but also to printmaking. The exhibition Pablo Picasso: Tauromaquia. Myth. Eros., which brings together around 90 prints on paper created between 1904 and 1972, represents a cross section of the artist's print oeuvre.
The range of motifs which caught Picasso's interest and were masterfully transferred onto his printing plates was wide an varied. The artist dealt with Greek and Roman mythology, bullfights, animals, and the relationship between a painter and his model, and created numerous still lifes, portraits and exceptional book illustrations.
The Ljubljana exhibition of Picasso's work brings together 11 series of prints, including a selection of prints from the Suite Vollard series, which art critics consider to be one of the 20th century's most important print series. The recurrent themes which Picasso explored in his prints were bullfights, myths and eros, hence the title of the exhibition.
The programme of accompanying events includes workshops, lectures and film screenings. Childcare is available during exhibition hours.
