Even though the Congress Department of the Ljubljana Tourism is certified as a local and regional convention bureau within the national congress standardisation, it does not function on basis of a membership structure, as is the case of the Slovenian Convention Bureau. With its extensive knowledge on the meetings proposition, as well as the general tourist offer of the city, it represents the prime source of professional and objective information on the destination. It aims being a valuable local adviser with many insiders’ tips, or solution provider, to prospective event organisers. Its support is free of charge.
The main tasks of the Congress Department are summarised below
A strong focus is on the marketing and promotion of Ljubljana as a meetings destination, covering all segments - association meetings in the first place, but also corporate events, incentives and exhibitions. This implies our participation in the major meetings industry trade shows and workshops, communication with the specialised and general media, an active involvement in the meetings industry trade associations, etc.
An important role is serving as the central information point that represents the key local suppliers in the meetings industry segment, as well as the support programme that can be created for delegates. In this regard, the Ljubljana Tourism functions as a bridge between the supply and the demand. Use our Request for Proposal form.
Bidding for international congresses is easier with our help. To start with, we can offer a standardised bid book that includes the main features of the destination, with flexible chapters that are intended for the more specific, congress-related content. In some cases, we are partners to other entities in bids, while at times we coordinate the bids for the destination ourselves in the full process. We are also happy to support the congress pre-marketing with promotional materials, A/V materials – photo bank, image videos, etc.
As a part of the marketing activities, we co-ordinate and / or co-organise site inspection visits and familiarisation trips, often together with the key local partners or the Slovenian Convention Bureau.
Before your event, contact us for the promotional material for your delegates. It's free of charge. For international congresses with more than 500 delegates, we can also offer an on-site staffed tourist information desk, which has been appreciated at many events so far. We can also assist as a liason to the civic authorities.
Professional networking is a must today, therefore we have a proactive approach towards national and international trade associations in the fields of the meetings industry promotion, marketing, research and education. The Ljubljana Tourism was a founding member of the Slovenian Convention Bureau and keeps a strong partnership relation with it in many aspects.
